Install Microsoft Office 2010 from online download

Microsoft Office 2010 is available for download as either an online purchase or as a free trial download that can be registered later via an online purchase.To download the program, visit the Microsoft Download Center.

1. When you are at the Microsoft Download Center, click the Office 2010 “Free Trial” button.

2. On the next screen, you can choose the version of Microsoft Office 2010 you wish to install. The standard version includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.

Microsoft Office Professional includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access and Publisher.

A third version, Microsoft Office Home and Student includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. This version makes sense if you work for yourself or if you are a student and do not need Outlook, Publisher, or Access.

This procedure demonstrates the installation of Microsoft Office 2010 Professional.

3. Click the green “Try it Now” button to continue the process.

4. You are now asked to log in or create a new account for Windows Live. If you do not have an account, you will need to use the option on the right by clicking the blue “Sign up for New Account.” button.

5. When you get to the next screen, you will be asked to”Create your Windows Live ID.” Enter your email address, your desired password, your name, and your region. If you want to keep emails from Microsoft separate from your others, you may want to create a new email account for use with Windows Live or you can always create a separate folder in your existing email account.When you are done, click the blue “Continue Checkout” button.

6. Once you have created your Windows Live ID, you can log in and continue. You will arrive at the “Download Your Microsoft Office Products Now” window where you should record your “Product Key” and then click the “Download Now” button.

7. When prompted,  by your browser, select “Run.”

8. When the download is complete, click the “Run” button (if prompted). Otherwise the file may execute automatically.

9. A window will display progress as the program extracts files. Depending on the speed of your computer, this may take a minute or two.

11. It may take a minute to validate your product key. I recommend that you uncheck the “Attempt to automatically activate my product on line” checkbox.

13. Choose to customize the installation or to “Install Now” with default options. Choose “Install Now.”

15. Click the “Continue Online” button to complete your Office experience. you can also select the “Close” option to finish the installation now.

16. If you chose to continue online, you are taken to the Microsoft Office Web site where you can configure “Free Web Companions to Office.” These options help you store, share and collaborate with your files online.
