Amazon nuked the tablet market as it unveiled several new devices. Amazon applied the heat with Kindle Fire, its $199 full-color Android tablet. Designed to compete against the Apple iPad, Blackberry PlayBook and Motorola
Xoom, the tablet applies downward pressure on prices in the tablet market. Also, Amazon released a new Kindle book reader, two touch Kindles (Kindle Touch and Kindle Touch 3G).
Kindle Fire heats up tablet market
Kindle Fire attracts the most attention from CPG customers because of its powerful computing capabilities married to the name of the most well-known e-book reader. Kindle Fire comes with a 7-inch touchscreen display, a dual-core processor, the all-new Amazon Silk Web browser, and free storage on the Amazon Cloud.
The Silk Web browser uses Amazon servers to compress and accelerate browsing speed much in the way Opera, Skyfire and other browsers do.
